New Teachers
The Local, in partnership with the Edmonton Public School Board, provides support to the New Teacher Induction Program through a $30,000 financial commitment.
The Local provides release time, on a first-come, first-served basis, for 20 new teachers that have registered for the provincial ATA Beginning Teachers’ Conference at the end of September. To be eligible for the funding, ensure that principals contact the Local office with the names of those attending the Beginning Teachers’ Conference.
Members
The Local offers a Professional Development Grant-in-aid which is available for teachers to use toward conferences and/or seminars. Members that meet the eligibility requirements are included in a random draw at the end of May. Applications are available from the Local's office in May.
The Professional Development Committee also offers a variety of workshops and book studies at no or minimal cost throughout the year.
Provincial Alberta Teachers' Association
